  • Local restaurants

Estella's Cafe is a third-generation, family owned business started by Estella and Luis Gonzales in 1950. The restaurant's fare includes old New Mexico favorites and innovative dishes as well. Estella's has committed to serving healthy food to the community, and to the support of local farmers and ranchers. The restaurant proudly serves beef from the Hobo Ranch near Maes, and from Vallecitos Ranch in Mora. Salads are prepared with fresh, locally grown greens from the Infinity Farm in El Ancon. Estella's chefs are constantly on the lookout to source additional ingredients locally. Whole wheat loaves, sourdough loaves and sourdough hamburger buns are prepared and baked on site.

Estella's Cafe is open from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Landmark grille is in the ground floor of the historic Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas' Old Town Plaza. The restaurant is the first to be accepted into the Farm to Restaurant project; Wid Slick, the hotel's owner, has been a driving force behind the Farm to Restaurant project, recruiting the project's organizer, Lee Einer, and helping to secure the New Mexico Community Foundation grant which got the project started.

Go here to read more about the Landmark Grille and view the Grille's menu.

The El Fidel is the second restaurant accepted into Las Vegas' Farm to Restaurant project.

Miguel Velasquez and Juan Ortiz are both chefs and owners of the El Fidel. No strangers to the local food scene, Miguel and Juan often buy from local farmers, and design their seasonal menus with local produce in mind.

The world Travelers Cafe

The Travelers Cafe in the old town plaza is the most recent local restaurant to join the Farm to Restaurant prject and commit to purchasing from local farmers and ranchers. A popular local meeting place that offers coffee, tea and a variety of inexpensive menu items, the Cafe is  a great place to come, enjoy a cuppa joe,  surf the net on their wireless, and view the works of local artists on display.  Quiches from local, free range eggs are already on the menu. Teresa Victor, the proprietor, also is a distributor for El Vallecito meats, which offers beef, goat and lamb raised near Mora, NM.

Mary Ann Duenas

Mary Ann's Famous Burritos, the most recent restaurant accepted into the program, has been a Las Vegas fixture for many years.

Mary Ann Duenas, who along with her husband Carlos owns and runs the restaurant, has been cooking professionally in the Las Vegas area for roughly forty years; Mary Ann's Famous Burritos has been at the same location at 528 Grand Avenue for the past ten years, where she continues to attract loyal customers with her made-fresh-daily takes on traditional New Mexican cuisine.

In addition to helping run the restaurant, Carlos is a regular at the Tri-County Farmers Market in Las Vegas, where he helps staff the market while selling Mary Ann's burritos. Their calabacita burritos are a farmers market favorite.

Local farmers and ranchers offer a range of goods from apples to zucchini, from beef to lamb. We are working on a contact list which will be integrated into this site, but in the meanwhile, we have created a directory of participating farmers and ranchers that lists their contact information, their farming practices, the meat and produce they offer, and when seasonal products are available. You can view and download the Farmers and Ranchers Directory here
